DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Southern Public Schools is located in Wymore and Blue Springs Nebraska in the Southeastern part of the state. Wymore is located South of Lincoln and eight miles north of the Kansas border. The Wymore-Blue Springs communities are located within a mile of each other. These communities are home to two schools - Southern Elementary (PK - 6) and Southern Junior-Senior High School (7-12). In 1968 the current district was created with the consolidation of the five communities of Wymore, Blue Springs, Barneston, Holmesville, and Liberty - along with much of their outlying area. The population served by the district, as reported on the 2010 U.S. Census, is 2,219.
