DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Cedar Elementary School, home to the Cedar Stars, opened in 1955, and is the smallest of the elementary buildings in Beatrice Public Schools with approximately 130 students in single sections of Kindergarten through fifth grade.Cedar prides itself in its close-knit family atmosphere. Cedar is a school where all the students know all the adults and all the adults know all the students.Cedar has been recognized by the Gallup Organization as a school that has high HOPE for all students. Eight certified teachers and three full time paras strive to meet the emotional and learning needs of all students. Cedar is a school-wide Title I building, providing support in the area of reading. Cedar has traveling specialists for Physical Education, Music, guidance, library, and fifth grade band. Essential Learning assessments and the NWEA MAP assessments provide information for students, parents, and teachers on the progress of students in achieving state and local standards.
