DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Grand Island Senior High School enrolls over 2,500 students, making it one of the largest high schools in Nebraska. Our diverse student body is served by 142 teachers. The Academies of Grand Island Senior High include the Academy of Freshman Exploration, the first all-freshman academy to receive National Career Academy Coalition Model Status in 2018-19, its first year of operation. All sophomore through senior students are enrolled in one of nineteen career pathways within five academies. Additionally, Senior High offers extensive opportunities for AP and dual credit. The school was one of three in the state to be named to the AP District Honor Roll for increasing achievement for minority students. At GIPS we empower educators to be instructional leaders, personalize learning pathways for each student, design decisions using data, and partner with our community. Our students are prepared to make positive contributions to society and thrive in an ever-changing world.
