RJ Barr Middle School enrolls 715 students in grades 6 through 8. Barr students are served by 65 certified staff and 33 classified staff members. Barr is one of the top 20 most diverse middle schools in the state of Nebraska. With an average class size of 22, Barr students are able to participate in rigorous, meaningful learning opportunities focused on building strong relationships, incorporating collaborative learning, productive tasks, and standards-based instruction into every lesson, as well as offering many extracurricular opportunities. At Grand Island Public Schools, we empower educators to be instructional leaders, personalize learning pathways for each student, design decisions using data, and partner with our community. Our students are prepared to make positive contributions to society and thrive in an ever-changing world.
