DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
A. B. Newell Elementary School enrolls 491 students in grades K through 5. The diverse student body is served by 30 certified teachers. The original school was built in 1955 and has had several additions to make Newell one of the larger elementary facilities within the district. Newell is the site of the K-5 hearing impaired program for the entire district. As a recipient of a True School grant, the staff at Newell are actively working to improve early literacy achievement through shared innovative practices. At GIPS we empower educators to be instructional leaders, personalize learning pathways for each student, design decisions using data, and partner with our community. Our students are prepared to make positive contributions to society and thrive in an ever-changing world.
