Jefferson Elementary School, located at 1314 West 7th Street in Grand Island, is comprised of approximately 300 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Jefferson is a three or four unit school. The average class size is 20 students. The staff is comprised of 29 certified and 18 classified members. The staff works together to provide the best possible education for each and every student. Jefferson has a cooperative and collaborative spirit and encourages family involvement in all aspects of school life. Jefferson is a diverse school that offers a variety of educational opportunities for students. Student demographics include 84% low socioeconomic, 36% English language learners, 14% special education and mobility 22%. Jefferson's overall special needs index is 156. The Jefferson learning community strives to meet the needs of all students.
