Northwest High School is located in northwest part of Grand Island, Nebraska. Northwest High School was established as a Class VI High School in 1963. The development of Northwest High School evolved over the years as the northwestern quadrant of the city of Grand Island grew from farmland into developed neighborhoods. In 2006 Northwest High School became a part of Northwest Public Schools per LB126. For the 2021-22 school year, Northwest High School had 696 students in Grades 9-12. This student population was served by 55 certified staff, 3 paraprofessionals and 4 administrators. Throughout the decade of 2010-20 graduating classes averaged approximately 175 students. With the current option enrollment law for the Nebraska Department of Education, the current percentage of options students is approximately 80%, with the other 20% representing district resident students.
