DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Aurora High School enrolls approximately 90-100 students per grade level (9-12) each year. The faculty includes forty high school teachers which include several staff members who are "shared" teachers with the middle school. The high school also has 1.5 guidance counselors and three administrators. Teachers meet regularly in curricular teams as well as school improvement teams as they focus on curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. Students have many opportunities to take upper level courses as well as receive remediation courses as needed. Several students graduate with many college credits that they earn in both core as well as elective courses. Aurora High School also has ASCEND, an alternative learning environment for some students. Using technology to increase learning and enhance curriculum has been a focus in the high school. All students are issued an iPad and teachers regularly participate in professional development using technology.
