DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Aurora High School enrolls approximately 410 students 9-12 grade each year. The faculty includes 45 school teachers which include several "shared" teachers with the middle school. The high school also has 1.5 guidance counselors and three administrators. Teachers meet regularly in curricular teams, as well as school improvement teams focusing on curriculum, instruction, professional development and assessment practices. Students have many opportunities to take upper level courses as well as receive remediation courses. Several students graduate with college credits earned in both core and elective courses. Aurora High School has an alternative educaiton program (ASCEND), and will offer a career pathways curriculum during the 2018-19 school year. Using technology to increase learning and enhance curriculum has been a focus in the high school. All students are issued Chromebooks and iPads and teachers regularly participate in professional development using technology.
