DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Aurora Elementary School is a K-5 building. Each grade level is made up of 4-5 classrooms centered around a pod. This configuration allows for team planning and collaboration. Grade level teachers and support staff meet at least once a week in structured team planning. Students are placed into classrooms and in programs according to their academic and behavioral needs. Depending on students' needs, there is either inclusion or pullout services available through special education. Aurora Elementary also has Title I services availble to students in grades K-3. Aurora Elementary uses the Response to Intervention Model to serve students. Teachers are leaders on RtI leadership and grade level committees. The school also uses the systmatic approach to proactive school-wide behavior using the Positive Behavioal Intervention and Supports model. A school-wide anti bullying program is in place in the elementary as well with staff members serving on leadership committees.
