DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
The “Home of the Rockets” was established in 1941, Lincoln Northeast High School unified three distinct areas of Lincoln, Havelock, Bethany and University Place. Northeast is a four-year comprehensive high school grades 9 through 12. 2015-2016 enrollment is approximately 1,510 students. The origin of the mascot comes from the Rock Island “Rocket,” the train that once ran from Lincoln to Omaha, after WWII, the mascot evolved to the present day "Rocket". Lincoln Northeast receives students from the surrounding neighborhood as well as from across the district. Within Northeast’s community attendance area, sits the University of Nebraska - East Campus, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Burlington-Northern railroad and a variety of businesses and shops. Mickle, Culler and Dawes are the three primary feeder middle schools to Lincoln Northeast.
