DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING


Lincoln Northeast High School was established in 1941 through the unification of three distinct areas of Lincoln, Havelock, Bethany and University Place. Northeast is a four-year comprehensive 9-12 high school and 2017-2018 enrollment was approximately 1,633 students. The mascot comes from the Rock Island “Rocket,” the train that once ran from Lincoln to Omaha, after World War II, the mascot evolved to the present day “Rocket.” Lincoln Northeast receives students from the surrounding neighborhood as well as from across the district. Within Northeast’s community attendance area, sits the University of Nebraska - East Campus, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Burlington-Northern railroad and a variety of businesses and shops. Mickle, Culler and Dawes are the three primary feeder middle schools to Lincoln Northeast. Lincoln Northeast is dedicated to developing global citizens, acting as one community, achieving academic excellence, leadership, and service.
