DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Merle Beattie Elementary was named in honor of Merle Beattie who was the Director of Elementary Education in the Lincoln Public Schools from 1923-1953. Since the school first opened its doors in 1953, it has undergone four additions over the years. The most recent update occurred during the 2006-07 school year when new heating, air conditioning, flooring, windows and additional renovations were made to the facility. The school is surrounded by a beautiful and highly recognized garden area that serves to beautify and educate any patrons of the school. Our mission at Beattie Elementary is "TLC ~ Teaching, Learning and Caring for All!" By working as a staff in strong partnerships with parents and the community, Beattie has a tradition of excellence, a commitment to continuous improvement, and parent and community involvement that enhances the education offered to students. Beattie is expected to educate over 400 students in kindergarten through fifth grades for the upcoming school year.
