DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Merle Beattie Elementary was named in honor of Merle Beattie, the Director of Elementary Education in Lincoln Public Schools from 1923-53. Since the school first opened its doors in 1953, it has undergone four additions. The most recent update occurred during the 2006-07 school year when heating, air conditioning, flooring, windows and other improvements were made. The school is surrounded by a beautiful and highly recognized garden area that serves to beautify and educate patrons of the school. Beattie’s mission is "TLC ~ Teaching, Learning and Caring for All!" Our staff has strong partnerships with parents and the community, a tradition of excellence, a commitment to continuous improvement. Beattie is proud to be the home of the district’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program. Beattie expects to educate over 370 students in kindergarten through 5th grade for the upcoming school year.
