DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Pershing Elementary is a community working together to educate lifelong learners. As a community-based school, our primary mission is student achievement. We are organized by teams to provide an environment in which parents and faculty share in decisions that directly affect student learning. We utilize the Professional Learning Community model and sub-committees to do much of this work. We have three or four sections of each grade, Kindergarten - 5th, Early Childhood. Students receive specialized instruction in vocal and instrumental music, physical education, visual arts, library media/technology, and Reading Recovery. We are a school-wide Title 1 school. Community involvement is evident through parent volunteers, Northeast High School Pershing Pals, and Teammates. The YMCA facilitates an on-site Community Learning Center.
