DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
The staff at Pyrtle Elementary School has been committed to educational excellence since it opened its doors in 1964. We are the academic home for 425 students Preschool through Fifth grade organized into three sections at most grade levels. Our mission is "Pyrtle's community inspires and empowers learners for the future. The vision at Pyrtle Elementary is the belief that all students in our school need to have equal opportunity to learn. Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process, and students achieve more when there are high expectations for learning. Collaboration is key to the success of the support structure for the school's organizational plan. Pyrtle is closely connected to its neighborhood community with our PTO taking the lead to promote close collaboration through community gatherings and fundraisers. Our students also benefit greatly from numerous parent and community volunteers present daily within the school.
