DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Cavett Elementary opened in 1995 with 393 students, grades K-6. In 2017-18, Cavett's PreK-5th grade population totaled 691 students. The average 2017-18 K-5th grade class size was 23. A preschool served 18 students. Teachers work in professional learning community/data teams. Differentiated education in Reading and Math is offered for students who are Gifted or excelling, as well as, intervention in reading and math for students who need support are provided in regular classrooms. Special Education, Reading Recovery, and supplementary Literacy and Math instruction are provided as Tier 2 intervention supports. Specialist teachers provide Science, Music, Art, Computer Science, Media and Physical Education experiences for all students. Cavett uses the P.B.I.S Model as its school wide student management system. Cavett Elementary has strong parent involvement and an active, supportive PTO. Enriching after school clubs are offered quarterly for K-5 students.
