DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

The Sutherland Public Elementary School has a PK-6 enrollment of 217 students with the addition of a site-based preschool in 2015-2016. The elementary has 12 certified teachers and 10 non-certified employees that work with students. The classes average 16-20 students per classroom. The elementary has two resource teachers and one Title I teacher to assist students with special needs. Sutherland Public Elementary is part of the Nebraska MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) Consortium, and is currently implementing a process for identifying and meeting the needs of individual students K-6. The staff implements a model of instruction developed within the district and will begin training in 2016-2017 for the implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).
