DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING


Bayard, Nebraska is located in the western part of the state with a population of 1,200. Bayard is nestled near the National Historical Oregon Trail Landmark, Chimney Rock. The accredited, progressive school system is a major source of employment in Bayard. Agriculture also supports the economy in Bayard. A modern junior/senior high school and the elementary school meet the educational needs. The district has an enrollment of approximately 400 students and a staff of 38 teachers and 4.5 administrators. The entire community, including a majority of senior citizens, supports the many extra-curricular activities as the students prepare for their future in a global society. Just as Chimney Rock led the pioneers along the westward trail; likewise, the Bayard Public Schools are preparing to lead the students to success with a rock solid foundation in education rooted in basics and branching to excellence, as they journey on their path to a successful future.
