Bridgeport is located in the central part of the Panhandle of Nebraska five miles north of the historic Oregon Trail Landmark, Courthouse and Jail Rock, with a population of 1,600. Bridgeport was founded around Camp Clark Bridge, which was an important junction for three major trails: the Oregon Trail, the Mormon Trail, and the Sidney-Deadwood Trail. Bridgeport Public Schools is a North Central Accredited school with a curriculum and graduation standards that exceed the minimum requirements. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all students, and to prepare them to function productively and responsibly in a continuously changing society. The district has an enrollment of approximately 500 students (k-12), which are served by a staff that includes 50 staff members, 3 administrators, and 40 support staff members.
