DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Hayward Elementary serves over 310 students in Grades 3,4,and 5. A balanced curriculum is provided to ALL students including: Special Ed, English Language Learning, and High Ability, DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Learning Skills) determines fluency, RtI(Response to Intervention)is used for support strategies, Reading Mastery is the core, Corrective Reading/Quick Reads serve as RtI interventions. Six Traits of Writing is used in all grades. PBiS(Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) as well as BIST (Behavior Intervention Support Team) provide a consistent school-wide behavior plan. A full range of support services and programs are available which include: Pioneer Learning Center(after-school extended learning),Title 1 Reading, Speech Therapy, and Counseling services. All students can access technology including computers,iPads and Chrome books. Staff work collectively to provide educational opportunities that reflect the District's mission and belief statements.
