DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
The Southwest Public School district covers approximately 650 square miles of Red Willow, Frontier, and Furnas Counties and includes the rural communities of Wilsonville, Lebanon, Danbury, Marion, Bartley, and Indianola. Southwest Elementary at Indianola - A dedicated teaching staff of 15 (12 FTE) worked with 150 students at the Preschool through 6th grade elementary school in Indianola. This staff has designed and implemented curriculum that aligns with the State Standards. The district’s student assessment process includes a system of ongoing classroom assessments, a nationally normed referenced test,NWEA MAP, and a criterion reference assessment system known as the NeSA test. These assessments provide the staff with information to review and revise the curriculum providing our students with a learning environment that will assist them throughout life. District 179 is accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education.
