DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING


The Southwest Public School district covers approximately 650 square miles of Red Willow, Frontier, and Furnas Counties and includes the rural communities of Wilsonville, Lebanon, Danbury, Marion, Bartley, and Indianola. Southwest Junior/Senior High School - A dedicated teaching staff of 18 worked with 145 students at the high school facility in Bartley. This staff has designed and implemented curriculum that aligns with the State Standards. The district’s student assessment process includes a system of ongoing classroom assessments, a nationally normed referenced test, and a criterion reference assessment system known as the NeSA. The ACT test has been added for 11th grade. These assessments provide the staff with information to review and revise the curriculum providing our students with a learning environment that will assist them throughout life. District 179 is accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education.
