DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

WES is an accredited school serving just over 450 students (K-5) with four sections at each grade. Students receive general education courses as well as services in High Ability Learner, English Language Learner, and inclusive Special Education programs. Specialized reading intervention is available to all grades. Teachers at primary grades are endorsed in Early Childhood Education. Certified teachers throughout the school engage in a process of continuous growth through professional learning communities. Within the PLC system, each team of teachers set and monitor growth toward SMART goals. WES utilizes yearly themes in working toward the district's vision, "Inspiring our students to THRIVE!" These themes are based on elements of positive psychology and social-emotional growth, including strengths-based teaming and growth mindset. The school is subject to an exceptional level of community support through an active PTO and newly-developed Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students) chapter.
