DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Mitchell is a Class III school organized as PK-6 elementary and 7-12 secondary. Mitchell offers a comprehensive list of required and elective courses, preparing students for college or career. Students are required to meet all state course requirements in addition to four years of social sciences, which is above and beyond state requirements. Courses in Agriculture, Industrial technology, graphic design and digital media, and health-based courses (nursing aide, EMT, etc) offer a range of career-focused education. A job shadowing and volunteering requirement was added in 2018 to better prepare students for post graduation and entry as contributing, mindful citizens. This individualized focus on career education is monitored through a portfolio process, and has been a catalyst for many students in choosing a career path following high school.
