DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Mitchell is a Class III school organized as PK-6 elementary and 7-12 secondary. Mitchell Elementary facility is designed to house Prekindergarten through sixth grade. Small classroom size is valued at MPS, resulting in three sections of each grade level for most grade levels. This keeps class sizes under 20, often 17 or less, in primary grades. Mitchell Elementary utilizes the NWEA/maps test for its NRT in grades 2-11, NSCAS for State Assessment in grades 3-8 and 11, DIBELS and AIMSweb for progress monitoring tools in grades K-8. These tools serve in providing key data sources for a structured MTSS system to best meet students' academic needs. Specialized reading and math instruction are provided for students based on student ability. These groupings are monitored and adjusted often throughout the school year by a trained team of educators including administration, classroom teachers, Title I and Special education representation.
