Harrison is the county seat and the only town in the county. This county high school serves the sixth largest county in area in Nebraska. It is a small class D-2 high school with less than 40 students. Sioux County is an isolated rural area with ranching and farming being the main economy of the county. Approximately, 1/2 of the students live in Harrison and 1/2 drive into town from the country each day. The school building is approximately 34 years old, well-maintained, and spacious. Visitors often remark about the pride the students have in their school because of the obvious lack of graffiti and vandalism.
