DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING
Umonhon Nation Middle School has been working on improvement by increasing the rigor, using improved curriculum support materials. Since starting APL Strategies, teachers are running a much more organized classroom and the students are responding well. Umonhon Nation Middle School uses (Measures of Academic Progress) MAP testing. In accordance to state mandates, 8th grade students must complete the State Writing Assessment and NeSA testing. Additionally, Umonhon Nation 8th graders are required to compile and present a portfolio of student work. This is presented to the school and community in hard copy, digital and oral form. Because of a high rate of mobility some portfolios are not as extensive as others, but whenever possible students are assisted in gathering work from former schools and teachers.
