DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL BUILDING

Wheeler County is home to two small communities, Bartlett and Ericson, as well as many ranches and farms. Most of Wheeler Central's students and staff call the country their home. There are five buildings that comprise the district all located in Bartlett. The system now instructs 111 students in grades K-12. There are 49 elementary students (K-6) and 62 secondary students (7-12). Twenty certified staff members and nine classified staff members help to meet or exceed requirements set forth by the Nebraska State Department of Education. The secondary curriculum also makes use of interactive distance learning through the use of new technology and affiliation with the Niobrara Valley Telepartnership, a group of twenty schools that share teachers and classes over phone lines and television. We are also a member of the Northern Tier Consortiuim, a group of ten schools that act as one large school system to write one School Improvement plan.
